De Makalause i Brønnøysund er en spesiell speidertropp med fokus på musikk, som er med i Brønnøy KFUK-KFUM-speidere, og som består av personer med forskjellige typer funksjonsnedsettelser. Filmskaper/produsent Kathrine Haugen har laget en gripende dokumentar som utforsker funksjonshemming gjennom en teologisk linse. Filmen følger speidergruppen og deres daglige liv, og viser hvordan de fungerer som levende tegn på Guds mangfoldighet og menneskeverd. Gjennom intervjuer og scener fra deres fellesskap, belyser filmen hvordan sårbarhet, inkludering og gjensidig avhengighet er sentrale elementer i et inkluderende menneskesyn.
Filmen er også et portrett av ekteparet Kirsten og Jens Kristian som har viet mye av livet sitt til å skape rom for inkludering i inn- og utland gjennom speiderbevegelsen.
De makalause utfordrer vår forståelse av perfeksjon og normalitet, og inviterer oss til å se funksjonshemming som en naturlig del av menneskelivet.

De makalause /The Extraordinary Ones
De Makalause in Brønnøysund is a special scout troop with a focus on music, which is part of the Brønnøy YMCA-scouts, and which consists of people with different types of disabilities. Filmmaker/producer Kathrine Haugen has created a touching documentary that explores disability through a theological lens. The film follows the scout group and their daily lives, and shows how they function as living signs of God's diversity and human dignity.
Through interviews and scenes from their community, the film sheds light on how vulnerability, inclusion and interdependence are central elements of an inclusive view of humanity.
The film is also a portrait of the married couple Kirsten and Jens Kristian, who have dedicated much of their lives to creating space for inclusion at home and abroad through the scout movement.
De makalause challenge our understanding of perfection and normality, inviting us to see disability as a natural part of human life.
